Treatment Issue Addressed: Depression
Clinical depression is a psychological disorder which has a cluster of symptoms. These symptoms affect the sufferer like a persistent rain cloud hovering overhead. It prevents a person from enjoying life to the fullest because work, relationships, and recreation are affected. It may be experienced by a gnawing sense of low self esteem, difficulty concentrating, trouble making decisions, chronic fatigue, or poor sleep patterns. A tendency to overeat, overwork, or any other activity which is overdone is common to an individual who wants to fill the inner feeling of emptiness or who wants to escape being with themselves. Psychotherapy can cure or relieve these symptoms, providing the opportunity for an enriching life.

Major Depression includes many of the above symptoms but to an extreme degree which oftentimes requires both psychotherapy and medication. Additional symptoms may include suicidal thinking, impairment in concentration/decision-making which affects work/school performance, excessive restlessness/irritability, and extreme fatigue. Some people even experience hallucinations such as hearing their name called or seeing/sensing someone’s presence when no one is there.
